Prologue

Like The Building Productions started as a simple way to explain my name.

Growing up as “Chapel,” I’d often have to clarify both the spelling and pronunciation: “Like the building.”

Over time, the phrase stuck with me, and when it came time to create a name for my own work, it felt natural to carry that forward.

Today, Like The Building represents not just my name, but the foundation I’m building for my career in film.

Act 1

I began my filmmaking journey at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where I studied for two years before stepping directly into the industry as a set lighting technician.

After gaining valuable experience in grip and electric, I transitioned into the camera department and found my place as a Camera Assistant.

Not long after, I relocated to Birmingham, Alabama, where I’ve built a steady career on local features, commercials, and independent projects, while also working across the Southeast in Georgia, North Carolina, and Mississippi.

Act 2

As a 2nd Assistant Camera, I’ve developed a skill set rooted in precision and efficiency: prepped gear, reliable marks, clean slates, and organized camera reports that keep productions moving smoothly.

What I value most in this role is the way it has taught me to anticipate needs, balance multiple tasks at once, and collaborate closely with every department to help bring a director’s vision to the screen.

Act 3

My curiosity for the technical side of storytelling led me into media management and assistant editing.

I’ve become proficient with ShotPut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro, handling data workflows and assisting in post-production for projects ranging from local features to archival work with Spalding County, GA.

Colleagues often highlight my attention to detail; whether it’s properly labeling footage, crafting clear dailies timelines, or creating systems that allow editors to focus on the story instead of the files.

To BE Continued:

Looking ahead, I’m focused on expanding my work in assistant editing with the goal of becoming a full-time editor.

Long term, I plan to grow Like The Building Productions into a creative home for the stories I want to write, edit, and eventually produce, with the hope of continuing to strengthen the filmmaking community here in the Southeast.
